Field activities well coordinated took place in the local rural tourist village of Areco. Fair and artisans walk, auction of furniture and antiques to close the day, was the excuse neighbors to make more attractive the invitation.

Time, wonderful; with a sun invited to do everything outdoors. “Jose Hernandez” square where the “Artisans of San Jose” met with his impeccable white posts (without propagandas of any kind, or resale of odds and ends that would degrade the proposal) with its handicrafts, crafts, fried cakes and homemade breads they did very picturesque and tasty !.
Averaging the evening, the auction of antiques pieces where for a few pesos bidders got from old bottles, lamps or furniture field.
Feria local de artesanías
Actividades bien de campo y coordinadas tuvieron lugar en el pueblo turístico rural del Pago. Feria y paseo de artesanos, remate de muebles y antigüedades y la peña para cerrar la jornada, fue la excusa de los vecinos para hacer mas atractiva la invitación.
El tiempo, una maravilla; con un sol que invitó a hacer todo al aire libre. El eje, la plaza “José Hernández”, donde los “Artesanos de San José” se reunieron con sus impecables puestos blancos (sin propagandas de ningún tipo, ni reventa de cachivaches que degradaría la propuesta) con sus artesanías, manualidades, tortas fritas y panes caseros que hicieron todo muy pintoresco ¡y sabroso!.
Promediando la tarde, el remate de campo en donde por pocos pesos los oferentes consiguieron desde frascos antiguos, lámparas de campo o muebles. El galpón resulto chico y casi todos se llevaron algo. ¡Que se repita!
Para esta noche llega la peña. Con “Tres para los nuestro” y el dúo “Dos Estilos”, mas la jura de gato, chacarera y samba; condimentos que prometen una fiesta “de aquellas”.
Excelente desde el principio al final… ¡y eso que el invierno aún no termino! ¿Con que nos sorprenderá en primavera y verano la comunidad de Villa Lía?
Esperando la primavera en Villa Lia: Feria, misa, cosas ricas, rifa, remate… Los puestos de los artesanos San José se presentaron impecables, sin anuncios ni reventas.
The town besides being a cultural landmark of tradition, it is home since 1939 of the Tradition Festival , the oldest gaucho celebration of Argentina . This is a national event which starts eight days before the Week of Tradition and closes with an impressive parade of civilians and gaucho skills in the Ricardo Güiraldes Criollo Park.It is a festival in which Areco is shown with its own identity and where the only protagonists are the peasants , artisans , musicians , dancers and artists: pure and genuine folklore , which has allowed the arequeros to be custodians of the noble traditions that make the Argentinian identity . The gaucho , proud of the past, renovates in the Tradition Festival its commitment to a certain lifestyle .

El Pueblo además de ser un mojón cultural de la tradición, es sede desde 1939 de la Fiesta de la Tradición, la celebración gaucha más antigua de Argentina. Se trata de un acontecimiento nacional que se inicia ochos días antes con la Semana de la Tradición y cierra a lo grande con el impresionante desfile de paisanos y las destrezas gauchas en el Parque Criollo Ricardo Güiraldes.
Es una festividad en la que Areco se muestra con su propia identidad y donde los únicos protagonistas son los paisanos, artesanos, músicos, bailarines y artistas: folclore puro y genuino, que le ha permitido a los arequeros ser custodios de las nobles tradiciones que componen el ser argentino. El gaucho, orgulloso del pasado, renueva en la Fiesta de la Tradición su compromiso por un estilo de vida.
DISTINGUISHED VISITOR: THE KINGS OF SPAIN in Areco’s town
In the late 1970s, they arrived on an official visit to our country: Juan Carlos I and Queen Sofia of Spain. One of the stops was San Antonio de Areco. On that afternoon of pure barbecue, music and dance; a young but already very experienced Juan José Draghi, amazed with his work all the royal delegation. Over the time, these kings would not be the last -royals – to be dazzled by his work.
EL VISITANTE ILUSTRE: LOS REYES DE ESPAÑA
A finales de la década de 1970, llegaron en visita oficial a nuestro país Juan Carlos I y Sofía, reyes de España. Una de las paradas fue San Antonio de Areco, gracias a los buenos oficios del comodoro Juan J. Güiraldes. En esa tarde a puro asado, música y baile; un joven pero ya muy experimentado Juan José Draghi, asombro con su obra a toda la delegación real. Con el tiempo, estos reyes, no serian los últimos –monarcas- en deslumbrarse con el trabajo del maestro.

¡The great tradition gaucho festival of Argentina, very close to Buenos Aires!
If you happen to come to Argentina you cannot miss the Tradition Festival, the oldest gaucho celebration of the Buenos Aires Province. The one which gathers the largest number of gauchos with their impressive clothing, and horses carrying astonishing silver ornaments; horse riding and games with rioplatense tack, and strings of horses spotlessly trained.
